A Day on the Frozen Lake
We begin at our private lakeside estate, where we get the wilderness cabin warm and prepare for the day.
Then we head onto the frozen lake. You will learn how to drill through the ice, set up your fishing spot and try traditional Finnish ice fishing. We will also check our katiska fish trap and see what the lake has provided.
There is no fixed agenda once we are on the ice. You can concentrate on fishing, learn about local winter traditions or simply enjoy the extraordinary silence of the frozen landscape.
And yes, you are there to catch fish. But the experience is also about being out on the lake and experiencing Finnish winter in a very local way.
Lunch by the Open Fire
After fishing, we return to the estate and prepare a hearty wilderness lunch over an open fire.
We eat together by the fire and make traditional nokipannukahvi, Finnish coffee brewed in a pot directly over the flames.
It is a simple part of Finnish outdoor life, but for many guests it becomes one of the most memorable moments of the day.
A Private Experience, Not a Group Tour
This is a 100% private experience for your group only.
There are no other tourists joining your expedition, and the day can be adapted to your interests, the weather and the conditions on the lake.
The setting is our own private lakeside estate in Molkojärvi, surrounded by Finnish wilderness.
